Love God, Love Others
“To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.” ~ C.S. Lewis
We Are Past
Louisiana Memorial was established in 1806 as the first Methodist Church west of the Mississippi river. It has been an influencer in the community of Opelousas for over 200 years. Our members have shaped the course of history in this area, this state, this country, and the world.
We Are Present
The people of Louisiana Memorial are diverse. We come from different backgrounds, neighborhoods, economic levels, races. Somehow in the mixture of this gumbo we call church there is an encounter with Christ that transforms. As the apostle Paul writes, "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28)
We are Future
Louisiana Memorial has a prestigious history, but we are more interested in making history today. We believe that Jesus is the only way to truly transform this community. We are committed to transforming Opelousas in the power of Jesus.
